Alaya is a Sanskrit
word meaning 'inner essence.' This work is based on the principles of mindfulness,
heartfulness, and insight. Body-oriented methods, creative expression, honest
encounter and meditation are used in working with the material of our lives
to both deepen one's sense of self and move beyond ėself.Religion and science
have attempted to help us answer that question, and we can use what they offer
us. But they cannot think for us. They certainly cannot fe
el for us.
Alaya is a process that helps us discover our own answers to the question "Who
am I?" What we find when we inquire in this way can then direct us in the important
choices in our love and work. Alaya offers guidance and teaching to develop
the skills necessary for this endeavor, while at the same time respecting that
the answers belong, finally, to each of us, as free and unique individuals.
Alaya Process is founded on the principles of heartfulness, mindfulness, and
insight. The principle of heartfulness encompasses an open, present, loving,
compassionate heart that accepts things as they are and sees things as they
could be. It is a heart that sees and appreciates the actual and sees and cherishes
the possible. Mindfulness is the integrated awareness of, and attention to sensations,
feelings, mind and how it works, and the contents of mind. Insight is an understanding
or perception of things as they are, by attuning to one's being or one's own
heart. It is a comprehension directly from Alaya consciousness that returns
to, and realizes, our unity with all.
